GCS Geospatial Achieves CMMC IL2 Certification Ensuring Security of US Geospatial Information Systems, Software, and Data

Washington, D.C. – January 27, 2026  – GCS Geospatial (GCS), with more than a decade of experience advancing the state of geospatial and remote sensing technologies for the U.S. Defense and Intelligence Communities, announces they have achieved Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Level 2.

Developed by the Department of War, the CMMC Program is designed to address the Department’s priority of strengthening cybersecurity protections across the defense industrial base (DIB). CMMC certification provides assessment of defense contractor compliance with information safeguarding requirements. While Level 1 establishes basic safeguarding of federal contract information, reaching Level 2 requires affirmation that an organization meets requirements for broad protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI). GCS, a Veteran-Owned Small Business (VOSB), is among the first one percent of DIB contractors to achieve CMMC Level 2.

“We aimed to be at the tip of the spear in achieving CMMC Level 2 certification because we know Contracting Officers and Program Managers want to work with companies who show initiative and innovation in everything they do,” said Stephen Grover, the company’s founder and chief executive officer (CEO). “The GCS team is made up of trusted geospatial advisors, and our early certification reinforces our commitment to delivering the highest performance, quality, integrity, and standards in supporting our defense and intelligence customers’ national security missions.”

Since its founding in 2013, GCS has consistently led the way in solving complex challenges to meet geospatial intelligence (GEOINT) technology and data needs. The company’s CMMC certification reflects its capabilities in hardening and safeguarding systems to protect Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and underscores its commitment to defense and intelligence missions by ensuring the security of GCS’ IT systems.

GCS embarked on this certification journey more than two years ago, developing document-based artifacts, determining the best approach for implementing required hardware, software, and other controls, and meeting all 110 requirements of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Special Publication (SP) 800-171.
