WASHINGTON, D.C., [January 31, 2024] — GCS Geospatial, a leader in advancing geospatial and remote sensing technologies for the US Defense and Intelligence Communities, has been selected by the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) to advance 3D analytics capabilities under Topic 10 of the Boosting Innovative GEOINT Research (BIG-R BAA) program. This competitive award recognizes GCS’s expertise and reputation for delivering exceptional geospatial solutions that address challenges in the analysis and visualization of 3D data.
Following a rigorous selection process, GCS Geospatial, in collaboration with Hobu, Inc., will develop tools to address two critical technical elements:
Technical Element 1 – Advance Data Integration
The team will develop new methods for analysts to work simultaneously with multiple 3D data, including:
- Cloud-optimized point clouds (COPC)
- Digital Surface Models (DSMs) using cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs
- OGC 3D Tiles mesh content
- Vectorized geographical 3D features
Technical Element 3: Improved Visibility Analysis
The project will deliver improved viewshed and line-of-sight (LOS) analysis capabilities including:
- Support for non-overlapping observer viewshed generation
- Analysis tools for large geographic areas
- Integration with Quick Terrain Modeler (QTM)
- Enhanced GDAL open-source library capabilities for the GEOINT community
“As a long-time partner in the GEOINT community, we are proud to lead this advancement in 3D analysis,” said Stephen Grover, CEO of GCS Geospatial. “These innovations will have immediate impact on how analysts work with and exploit complex geographic data, setting new standards for geospatial intelligence capabilities.”
